I’m thinking about applying to International Relations Masters programs in the UK. I would like to know how International Relations Masters programs are received or viewed by employers in the US. Are they viewed as equivalent to US degrees or as less valuable? I’m not sure if I want to stay in the UK and find employment there, and if I spend thousands of dollars will it be a waste because Think Tanks and other US-based organizations will automatically dismiss the degree as lacking credibility?

US-based organizations won’t dismiss a UK degree outright, but it will give them pause and require them to learn more about the program than they would have to with a US-based program. You would also be operating without a strong US alumni network, which will mean sailing into a headwind over the long term.
